Questions About Our
Is Garden Barter only about gardening?
+ Garden Barter is a community of helpful plant enthusiasts who share the secrets and science behind successfully selecting and growing your favorite indoor and outdoor plants, avoiding disease, and identifying pests. But, our community is about much more than gardening.
+ We are also an interactive hub for those who forage, harvest, preserve, and prepare delicious plant-based ingredients. So, we share techniques, recipes, and inspiration for those searching for ways to eat more plants, like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and more.
+ And, we believe that one of the best ways to improve your indoor and outdoor environments is to create the right combination of useful and decorative plants. So, join us for a wide-range of discussions on topics like hearty houseplants, floral design for special occasions, climate-tolerant landscaping options, and much more.
+ Finally, while Garden Barter is the place to share your experiences, lessons learned, and ongoing projects, we also have a few resources built-into our community that help us make plants more accessible to everyone, like:

How is Garden Barter different than other social media platforms?
+ We could have chosen any number of existing online forums or social media apps to host our community, but we decided to create our own online network for several reasons.
1. Ditch all the distractions: Garden Barter is exclusively designed by and for plant-lovers (and those in the making). With this singular focus, you can avoid all of the distractions that are built into the user experience on traditional social platforms. Here, you can be intentional about how you spend your time.
2. Find what you really need: Garden Barter makes it easy to find what you're looking for with our own built-in search engine and topics that keep everything organized. With your help, we are collectively building a body of plant knowledge that we expect to be drawn upon for many decades to come. Making this information easily accessible to everyone online and through our mobile apps is a high priority.
3. Get more of what you love: Garden Barter allows you to choose the content that fills your own activity feed. You get to select the topics, members, events, groups, workshops, and courses that are of interest to you. You also have full control over the notifications you do (or don't) receive along the way.
4. Meet people just like you: Garden Barter members share a common interest in plants and this allows us all to start new friendships with something in common. You can even find other members near you. If you have family, friends, or acquaintances that you think might enjoy our community, please invite them to join along with you.
5. Enjoy shared experiences: Garden Barter provides passive and active experiences within our community. If you appreciate plants and simply want to share what you're growing, cooking, or designing, we appreciate your contribution. And, if you want to participate in interactive online events and workshops, we are working to bring those to you too!
